Dosing: Adult
Note: The extended release formulation is not recommended for the treatment of acute pain.
Rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis: Oral:
Regular release: 50 mg 4 times/day or 75 mg 3 times/day; up to a maximum of 300 mg/day
Extended release: 200 mg once daily
Note: Lower doses may be used in small patients or in the elderly, or debilitated.
Dysmenorrhea, mild-to-moderate pain: Oral: Regular release:
25-50 mg every 6-8 hours up to a maximum of 300 mg/day
Dosing: Geriatric
Initial: 25-50 mg 3-4 times/day; increase up to 150-300 mg/day (maximum daily dose: 300 mg)
Dosing: Renal Impairment
In general, NSAIDs are not recommended for use in patients with advanced renal disease,
but the manufacturer of ketoprofen does provide some guidelines for adjustment in renal dysfunction:
Mild impairment: Maximum dose: 150 mg/day
Severe impairment: Clcr <25 mL/minute: Maximum dose: 100 mg/day
