| Precautions | Asthma; hypotension; hypothyroidism; pregnancy and breast feeding; prostatic hypertrophy; hepatic impairment; renal impairment (as its metabolites tend to accumulate); children under 1year; 6-10% of caucasians are deficient of CYP2D6 hence codeine is not effective in them. |
