| Drug Indication | Adjunct in treatment of opiod dependence; severe pain especially in terminal illness; cough in terminal illness. |
| Precautions | Asthma, hypotension, hypothyroidism, pregnancy and breast feeding, prostatic hypertrophy, hepatic and renal impairment, children under 1year; pain and swelling at the injection site; torsades de pointes with high doses, impotence; prolonged QT interval. |
| Contra-Indications | Acute respiratory depression, risk of paralytic ileus, acute abdomen, acute alcoholic, hypersensitivity to methadone. Not recommended for children. |
