IVinitial dose (for acute pain) for Adult:0.5-2.0mg at 3-5 interval.
SC/IM (Acute pain) for those of 20-39yrs: 7.5-12.5mg at 2hrs interval.
SC/IM (Acute pain) for those of 40-59yrs: 5-10mg at 2hrs interval.
SC/IM (Acute pain) for those of 60-69yrs: 2.5-7.5 at 2hrs interval.
SC/IM (Acute pain) for those of 70-80yrs: 2.5-5 at 2hrs interval.
SC/IM (Acute pain) for those than 85yrs: 2-3mg at 2hrs interval.
IV (Acute pain) for neonate: 0.01-0.02/kg at 1hr interval.
IV (Acute pain) for Infant: 0.05-0.1/kg at 4hrs interval. 0.01-0.04/kg at 1hr interval. Oral chronic cancer (for acute pain) for adult:2.5mg at 5hrs interval.

| Special Information | Its active metabolites have a long half-life hence it cannot be used over a long time in severe chronic illness. Its overdose is treated with naloxone for a number of days. |
