| Mode Of Action | Fluconazole nhibits the fungal cytochrome P-450 3-A dependent enzyme, 14-alpha demethylase interrupting synthesis of ergosterol and resulting in increased cellular permeability and loss of cell contents |
| Drug Indication | Dermatophytoses, malassezia folliculitis, chronic mucocutaneous, cutaneous and oropharyngeal candidiasis. |
| Precautions | Monitor liver functions if used for a long time, adrenal insufficiency, avoid drugs that reduce gastric secretions. It has disulfirum-like effect. |
| Contra-Indications | Pregnancy and lactation, hepatic disorders, concomitant administration with terfenadine, cisaprid, astemizole, midazolam, triazolam. |
